From the moment I woke up at 4:34 am I began thinking about what I might write about in this first posting to my blog. In this first sentence I have already given consideration to the two major capabilities that we have. The first is our ability to think. When he said “I think therefore I am” Descartes put thinking at the core of our existence as human beings. In our conversation with friends we will start many of our verbal contributions with the words “I think that...”
Associated with the amazing ability to think is the equally amazing ability to express our thoughts in words. If you think about inventing a new language you quickly realize what a wonder it is that so many languages exist in our world.
What does ‘thinking’ consist of for a child before it learns its first word? How do thoughts arise in our minds? An unanswered question is the question of how we are able to think. Am I my brain or do I ‘use’ my brain which would imply that I am something apart from my brain. What is that ‘something’?
Another capacity which we take so much for granted is what I am doing right now, namely, putting my thoughts in writing, an ability which mankind developed relatively recently in our history.
So what do you think about? It is hard for me to imagine that a person could go through life and not think about some of the ultimate questions pertaining to our existence on earth. Is our existence a result of chance happenings in nature or are we the outcome of the work of a ‘creator’? Do we exist for a reason or is our existence of importance only to ourselves?
So, what do you think about?

Of course we exist for a reason...to obey and worship the one and only God. This life is a test, and actually, very short and minute compared to what is yet to come. As for Descartes...well, personally, I think he was pretty narrow-minded. LOL But, I guess that's just my opinion. Good luck with the blogging...very interesting read :)
